Our journey begins in the early morning and we travel cross the north side of the Montenegrian coast up to Herceg-Novi and the border with Bosnija and Hercegovina. After crossing the border we find ourselves in a small but beautiful city of Trebinje, where we make our first 20 minute stop. After a short rest we continue our journey to the final spot of it – the enchanting city of Medjugoje.

Medjugorje is one of the best known sacred places in the world where pilgrims and visitors come to regain their inter forces to overcome the difficulties of life. Medjugorje is a place filled with peace and silence that overcomes the visitors and remains with them throughout their lives. The city is located on the west of Hercegovina, 25 km south from Mostar near to the border with Croatia. Nowadays it is a beautiful city with a population of about 3000 people. It is known as a place where pilgrims come to worship the Virgin Mary. She is known here as the Madonna of Medjugorje. The city became a place of real worship of religious life.

Mystical happenings began here in 1981 when a woman with a child in her hands appeared in front of a group of 6 people, she gestured them to approach her but they were scared. The next day four people saw Saint Virgin Mary, they spoke with her and prayed. It is believed that her message to the children carries a form of holiness and love, that helps them throughout their lives. She addresses them with the words: “Holy Jesus, my dear children. Stunned with these messages from Virgin Mary people from all over the world began to gather and pray. Till now she left more than a thousand messages. At the beginning the messages appeared almost every day. Many people accepted the mercy of God to their hearts in this sacred place and obtained the motivation to live a better and worthy life.

With a local guide we will visit the most beautiful places of the city such as: the marvelous church of Saint Jacob with a wonderful open theatre, called “Podbrdo”, where Virgin Mary left lots of her messages and where we can see her monument. If you wish you can go up mountain Krizevac, the most important destination for pilgrims as  Virgin Mary is believed to have been seen here for the first time.

After a short stop for lunch, you can visit the local fairs on your own.
